The Dutch Talokoto Foundation (STN) came into being from the desire and need to help the children in Gambia who have no prospects (disadvantaged children). This project is intended for disabled children, orphans and children with no prospects for the future.

The project
The project has emerged into a special cooperation between the Dutch Foundation and the inhabitants of the village Talokoto. The inhabitants of the village Madina Talokoto became aware of the necessity to help these children and therefore made a part of their land available for this project, in order to offer these fellowmen, who also are the weakest of their society, to have more perspective in their lives! To stand strong together for the weak! Since we have made progress in the development of this project, we now also want to help the local community of Talokoto. Therefore our slogan is “Sharing & Caring”. Welcome to the Project of Talokoto!

The main elements of our mission:
From a Christian view the foundation aims:
- to provide project –based humanitarian assistance in the field of the primary needs such as food, shelter, clothing and medical assistance to the groups of people with no prospect in the society of Gambia, orphans and abandoned children, invalids and other people who are in need of nursing, whereby the encouragement of self-reliance and an independent livelihood is centered;
- to promote, to build up and to support micro-economics in and around the created projects mentioned in point 1a. in the field of health, education, agriculture/ livestock, development of enterprises and youth work, in order for the projects to operate with the full support of the local population;
The foundation will try to realize its goal by raising funds and mobilizing volunteers.
